Information to the registered participants

WALK FOR LIFE

Thank you for your registration, your participation in Walk for Life and your contribution to raising awareness of the problems of access to health care in general and specifically ART in rural Zambia.

Below follows some more information on the practicalities of the Walk.

For those of you joining us from Lusaka:

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE’VE DECIDED TO START OFF EARLIER

When: October 3rd, 00.30 AM

Where: The Hotel Intercontinental parking lot

Before entering the bus, you will get your registration number, t-shirt and cap and you will have to sign the disclaimer. The bus will leave at 1 AM sharp. A packed breakfast will be served on the bus.

For those of you joining us directly in Lunchu village:

When: October 3rd, 05.15

Where: Katondo Basic School, Lunchu village – please contact us at walkforlife.zambia@gmail.com for exact directions if needed.

Before starting off, you’ll get your registration number, t-shirt and cap and you will have to sign the disclaimer.

For everyone:

The Walk will start off from Lunchu at 05.30 AM

The following will be provided:
- Water along the road
- Snacks at Chibele village, which is halfways to Kapiri Mposhi

If you have a food allergy, please bring your own snacks/food to be on the safe side.

The mobile health unit operating in the Kapiri area will be on call, with some limited first aid facilities.

Remember that the walk is 25 kilometers and it will get hot. You should therefore wear comfortable clothes and sturdy, well-fitting shoes. Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat. You might want to bring a small backpack with extra snacks, plaster, painkillers, toilet paper, extra water bottle or other hydrating drink etc.

We are planning to head back to Lusaka from Kapiri Mposhi at 13.00. A light lunch will be served on the bus going back.

Standard Chartered Bank is hosting a cocktail at Southern Sun Hotel at 19.00 for the participants returning to Lusaka.
