What a success!!!

On the night to Saturday October 3, about 50 people representing various Swedish and Zambian organisations (such as Atlas Copco, Scania, Ericsson, Sandvik, Star for Life, the Swedish Embassy in Lusaka, the Zambian Embassy in Stockholm, Abbott, Volvo, etc) went by bus from Lusaka to Lunch village. In the village more than 100 people followed along the 25 kilometer walk up to Kapiri Mposhi. A few 4x4 vehicles were driving beside the walkers providing with water and snacks.

Once everybody had reached the hospital in Kapiri Mposhi where Ophelias mother once picked up medicines for her daughter more snacks and drinks were served. After some speaches from the organisers and company representatives a bus then took people back to Lusaka, where a reception took place at the Southern Sun Hotel.

Today Sunday a work shop is taking place with the aim to agree on an action plan for this pilot of the Walk for Life project. How can we raise more awareness on HIV/AIDS?

Ophelia, who made the walk herself, says she is very satisfied with the number of people and organisations attending the walk, as well as the awareness raised by this project so far.

"On December 1 the next step will be taken. Then we are walking in Stockholm, from Kungsträdgården to Karolinska Sjukhuset in Huddinge. This might be a walk in show" Ophelia says with a smile.

More photos will be published during the coming days.
